JU VC mourns of Fakir Alamgir’s death

Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Farzana Islam today expressed profound shock at the death of freedom fighter and Ekushey Padak winning folk singer Fakir Alamgir.
In a condolence message, the VC recalled the glorious contribution of Fakir Alamgir to the country’s music arena, particularly in making the Gono Sangeet popular, “The nation has lost a patriotic person at his death. His contribution to the liberation war and democratic movement of Bangladesh will be remembered forever,” she said. Dr Farzana prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Prominent Gono Sangeet artist and member of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, Fakir Alamgir breathed his last around 10:56 pm last night while undergoing treatment at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the United Hospital in Dhaka with Covid-19 (Coronavirus) infection at the age of 71.
