At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in Las Vegas, USA, innovative technology brand Infinix unveiled two new charging technologies. At the ShowStoppers event on the 2nd week of January, Infinix came up with the ‘AirCharge’ and ‘Extreme-Temp Battery’ technologies.
AirCharge is an over-the-air wireless charging technology. It enables users to charge smart devices without the need for cables or physically touching the charging pad. This allows charging at a distance of 0–20 centimeters (7.87 inches) and delivers up to 7.5W of power wirelessly.
Infinix achieves this remarkable capability through its innovative multi-coil magnetic resonance technology and adaptive algorithms. AirCharge also works when the transmitting coil and the receiving coil are tilted at an angle of up to 60 degrees. This is ideal for users who want to keep their phones charged while gaming or watching videos without a cable getting in the way of either hand.
For this kind of charging, the sudden drop in distance between the phone and the charging pad is not good. To ensure safety regarding voltage issues, Infinix has implemented an over-voltage protection circuit on both ends of the chain. The charging pad can be installed underneath a table to allow continue using the phone while charging.
Infinix also unveiled its ‘Extreme-Temp Battery’ technology at the CES to address a common challenge faced by mobile phones in extremely cold environments. Conventional lithium-ion batteries suffer freezing, capacity reductions, or are incapable of charging at low temperatures.
In response, Infinix has developed the Extreme-Temp Battery, which remains operational even at an extreme temperature of -40°C. This innovative battery technology is anticipated to debut on an Infinix phone as early as the second half of 2025.
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is an annual trade show organized by the Consumer Technology Association, held in January every year since 1967 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Winchester, Nevada, United States. The event typically hosts presentations of new products and technologies in the consumer electronics industry. CES 2024 was held from January 9th to 12th.
