On August 5 the second National Debate Federation Bangladesh (NDF BD) Core 2.0 debate competition was held at Raihan School and College, Azimpur, Dhaka. A total of 30 selected debaters from all over Bangladesh were divided into 10 teams and participated in the competition. Dr. Rafat Alam, Associate Professor of McEwan University, Canada, was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. Salma Begum, Moderator and Associate Professor of Govt. Titumir College Debate Club was the special guest. NDF BD Secretary General Ashiqur Rahman Akash, NDF BD Core to Zero convener and co-chairman Engineer Osama Rashed and others were also present as guests. BASIS leaders visited Tungipara and paid tribute on behalf of the members of BASIS at the mausoleum of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Organized by The Advisory Standing Committee, the visit took place on the 5th of August and was attended by members of EC, the Advisory Standing Committee and the Secretariat. The delegation placed a floral wreath led by BASIS President Russell T Ahmed and offered special prayer at the mausoleum seeking divine blessings for Bangabandhu and members of his family. Grameenphone, the connectivity partner of Digital Bangladesh and a responsible corporate citizen, has recently been honored as one of the top taxpayers of the country for FY21-22 by the National Board of Revenue (NBR), for the seventh consecutive time. The Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU) – Income Tax of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) awarded the tech service leader Grameenphone for being the highest taxpayer in the telecommunication category. However, freed in June last after the end of Martial Law, Mujib came down heavily on the activities of dictator General Ayub Khan in a public rally at Paltan Maidan. In September, he went to Lahore to meet Shaheed Suhrawardy for forming an alliance of opposition parties called, the National Democratic Front. He spent the entire month of October travelling across East Pakistan along with Shaheed Suhrawardy for campaigning for the front. Sheikh Mujib also flew to London in 1963 for consultations with Suhrawardy, who was undergoing medical treatment. Suhrawardy died in Beirut on December 5.
