The ‘Poetry Festival’ is going to be held in Kumarkhali, a traditional town of Kushtia, where Lalon-Rabindra-Mosharraf was born and remembered. Barrister Selim Altaf George, Jatiyo Sangsad member from Kumarkhali-Khoksa constituency will inaugurate the day-long festival at the local Shishu Park next Saturday (November 20).
Former Finance Secretary of National Poetry Council Poet Syed Abdus Sadiq will preside over the function. Hundreds of invited poets from different parts of the country including Dhaka are participating in the literary festival.
The festival is organized by Kumarkhali Poetry Council and sponsored by Shaheed Golam Kibria Foundation. Poet-playwright Liton Abbas, on behalf of the Kumarkhali Poetry Council, said Kumarkhali has always been the seat of literary and cultural pursuits in the region. The festival is organized to preserve the continuity of the past tradition and to bring the young poets and writers of the region into the mainstream of literature.
Poet Kazi Akhter Hossain, Poet Sheikh Rabiul Haque, Poet and Journalist Abdur Rashid Chowdhury, Writer-Organizer Lalim Haque, Poet Mahmud Shamser, Poet Alkama Siddique, Poet Kamrul Hasan, Poet Shanta Maria and others will be present as special guests at the inaugural function. Poet and playwright Liton Abbas will give the welcome speech.
After the inaugural function, Rafiqur Rashid, Ariful Haque Kumar, Bilu Kabir, Tariq ul Islam, Mahmud Hafeez, Sarwar Murshed Ratan, Sohail Amin Babu, Rakibul Hasan, Dipu Mahmud, Mir Murtaza Ali Babu and Shah Alam Chunnu will participate in different sessions as presidents and will be participated by discussants Ahsan Nawab, Bablu Joarddar, Alam Ara Jasmine, Shishir Kumar Roy, Swapan Kumar Roy, Anshar Hossain, Ruhul Azam, Bimal Kundu, Syeda Habiba etc.
Akhtaruzzaman Chiru, SM Afzal Hossain, Ranjak Rizvi, Siddique Pramanik, Kazi Saiful, Bidhan Chandra Roy, Bipul Biswas, Munshi Saeed, Shaibal Aditya, Mahbuba Khandaker, Sheikh Milon, Kiran Akramul Haque, will take part in the national and local level poetry lessons. , Hasina Rahman, Pavel Imtiaz, Nehal Anwar, Rashedur Rahman Rana, Azizur Rahman, Tushar Ahmed Reza, Khaleq Aziz, Wazed Bangal, Mannan Moni, Asma Ansari Miru, Nahid Imam, Abdullah Saeed, Rajat Huda, Rupa Mahmud, Parm Badrul will take part in poetry recitation.
