Dhaka Celebrates International Jazz Day 2023

International Jazz Day 2023 was celebrated in Dhaka through an attractive arrangement. Jazz fans and music lovers of the capital got the opportunity to enjoy jazz music performances by local and foreign artists at The Garage Food Court in Dhaka yesterday.

International Jazz Day is celebrated on 30th April every year by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to unite people around the globe through jazz music. Since 2015, the day is also being celebrated regularly in Bangladesh. This movement of jazz music in Bangladesh was recently recognized by legendary jazz pianist, composer, and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Herbie Hancock.

The initiators of the International Jazz Day celebration in Bangladesh and the patrons of jazz music in the country are mainly the jazz artists of Bangladesh. Among these the names of Imran Ahmed, Towfiq Arifin Turjo, Rahin Haider, Mohaimin Karim and Raihan Rashid Majumder etc. are notable.

The Seesaw Quartet, Shuvendu Das Shuvo (Guitar), Kh. Koushik Ahmed Antar (Piano), Imran Ahmed (Guitar), Towfiq Arifin Turjo (Drums), Mohaimin Karim (Double Bass and electric bass), Francis Maginn (Trombone), Rahin Haider (Saxophone), Tanveer Haque (Bass), were present at the concert with a mesmerizing jazz music performance for the Dhaka audience. There was also a special performance by Poland’s eminent jazz artist, educator Grzegorz Karnas.

Also, the guest of the program, popular music artist, lyricist and composer Shayan Chowdhury Arnab gave an amazing performance on the stage at the end of the program.

International Jazz Day 2023 in Dhaka has been organized by Innovative Creation Limited (iCreation), a subsidiary of Impress Group and a renowned advertising agency. Entertainment company Dhaka Broadcast is the digital partner of the event.
