Bangladesh’s first-ever legal research festival

“The 1st NILS Research Festival, ” has concluded successfully yesterday 24 October. Throughout the 3 day-long events 12 resource persons have discussed the various cutting-edge issues in the arena of legal research in front of a vast online audience.  The closing ceremony was held in the presence of the three brightest stars of the legal arena, namely: Professor Dr. Rizwanul Islam, Chair of Department of Law, North South University. KM Shazzad Mohashin, Associate Professor, Department of Law and Justice, Jahangirnagar University and Ms. Mahua Zahur, Consultant and Legal Researcher of IP Chronicles, and  The guests presided as research literates and encouraged the participants with their experiences from their research activities.
The welcome speech was delivered by Ms. Lutfunnahar Shancyi, President of NILS Bangladesh. After their valuable lesson on research and the festival, the guests were requested to declare the results of the two Competitions: Professor Mr. Rizwanul Islam announced the names of the Paper Presentation Competition awardees.  Jarin Tasnim Urbi achieved the Winner position along with her Co-author Ms. Umme Nadia from Jagannath University. Mr. Mashrur Rahman Zidane achieved the 1st Runner-up position from North-South University & Ms. Sheikh Mahamuda achieved the 2nd Runner-up position from Comilla University.
Ms. Mahua Zahur was declared the winner of the Quiz Competition- Kazi Faiyaz Ahmed from Jahangirnagar University. Mr. K M Shazzad Mohashin announced the names of the two Runners up of the Quiz Competition, namely: Rabia Ahsan Era and Agnijita Dey Sajuti, both from Jahangirnagar University. The awards and certificates were shown to all the attendees and guests.
With the thanksgiving to guests and participants, the closing ceremony ended with the anchoring of Nusrat Jahan Nishat Chowdhury, Editorial Assistant, NILS Bangladesh.
The 1st NILS Research Festival 2021 was a great medium to express the extraordinary thoughts of the researchers, irrespective of their maturity level. The different legal research sessions and discussions were designed to give the participants contemporary aspects of legal research from an expert panel. The selected papers shall also be considered for publication in the upcoming “NILS Law Review.”
NILS Bangladesh organized the research festival under the leadership of Luthfunnahar Shancyi, President. Other organizers include national boards members, namely, Editor-in-Chief Nadia Islam Nody, Mashrur Rahman Mahin (Editorial Assistant), Mehenaj Binte Amin (Editorial Assistant), Sumaiya Sultana Ritu (Editorial Assistant), Nusrat Jahan Nishat (Editorial Assistant), and Rahatul Karim Rahat (Vice President, Marketing) and others board members.
The Network for International Law Students (NILS) is an international, independent, non-political, and non-profit organization of law students from twenty-six countries worldwide. The Bangladesh Chapter of NILS, which started operations in Bangladesh in 2016, won the Chapter of the Year award among 26 countries to contribute to law education in Bangladesh in 2017-18. With members in 48 universities of Bangladesh, NILS Bangladesh promotes the goals of NILS & organizes different workshops, seminars, competitions, and legal awareness programs to contribute to legal education.  NILS Bangladesh takes this attempt to enhance law students’ skills to develop inherent potentiality increase the opportunity of law students nationally & internationally.
