The Center for Archaeological Studies (CAS) in association with the Department of General Education (GED) of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a seminar titled Our Heritage: A Journey to the Root on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the ULAB Campus. The event was initiated with the welcome Speech Professor Dr. Shahnaj Husne Jahan, Director of the Center for Archaeological Studies and Head of the Department of General Education (GED) of ULAB.
Total seven research papers were presented in this Seminar, where students of the Cultural Heritage of Bangladesh course showcased their understanding of the rich cultural heritage of Bangladesh. Their presentation covers the areas Chattogram Hill tracts: Where Clouds Touch Your Feet; Faridpur: A Sanctuary of Culture; Cultures and Colors of Old Dhaka; World Cultural Heritage Mosque City of Bagerhat; Coastal Bangladesh: Where Tide Waits; Cumilla: Komolanko-A City of Monks; and Sylhet: Paradise of Tea. The presenters were Md. Tanvir Ahmed Shihab, Tanzina Rahman Sonali, Mominur Rahman Mizan, Md. Saroz Shahriar, Priyes Das Tokaram, Rubayet Hossain Chisty, Refat Fatema, Nafisa Khan, Parisa Saba, Jannatul Fariha Mim, Rahima Jahan Tina, Nikyta Nahid, Jeba Tasnin Farin, Rahim Newaz Khan Himal, Gazi Mahmudul Hassan, Md. Mahmudur Rahman, Tanzina Rahman Sonali, Md. Yusuf Ahmed and Tarin Ahmad Diba.
Besides ULAB faculty members, staff and students, renowned historians, archaeologists, history and heritage researchers including Professor Sharif uddin Ahmed, Ambassador Mr. Waliur Rahman, Geologist AKM Korshed Alam were present at the seminar and discussed the importance of the study of history and heritage.
