As a responsible global brand, imo consistently upholds its principle of extending community services beyond commercial interests. This benevolent philosophy has once again driven imo to step in for the sake of humanity, this time in favor of the flood-affected people from the north and north-eastern region of Bangladesh. On June 22, 2022, imo has rolled out a free-data donation campaign, offering data worth over BDT 40 lakhs to the users in Sylhet division, completely free of charge.

From the total volume, the data allocation has been made as follows – 512MB for Grameenphone users; 300MB for Banglalink users, 1GB for Robi users, and 1GB for Airtel users. This shall facilitate up to 1550 minutes of the audio call and up to 550 minutes of video call for the imo users in the region, as they struggle to communicate with dear ones and seek necessary funds, aid etc. The free data comes with 3-days’ validity from the date of activation. Besides this, imo has also set up a dedicated Channel named “Bangladesh Relief” in order to fast-track relief and donation collection for the victims from the inundated regions. The Channel is collecting and broadcasting multiple Ngo’s help and has already gathered over 20 thousand followers.

The devastating flood has left millions of people in dire catastrophe. As of June 23, at least 42 deaths have been logged due to the extreme natural calamity. In dire times like this, every public and private organization is expected to put forward their best efforts to minimize the damage and accelerate recovery operations in every way possible, and we have seen many of them had voluntarily made lots of efforts in rescue and relief. As a global leader in the Instant Messaging industry, imo joined the collective efforts through developing better recovery engagements, and hopes to inspire others too, as Bangladesh hopes for a quick and effective rehabilitation in Sylhet and nearby districts.
