The Institute of Certified General Accountants of Bangladesh (CGA Bangladesh) successfully hosted “CGA Night 2026” on Saturday at Buffet Lounge, Pallabi, Mirpur, Dhaka, bringing together professional accountants, members, students, and distinguished guests in a vibrant celebration of the accounting profession.
The programme was graced by Professor Dr. M. Harunur Rashid, President of the Bangladesh Accounting Association and Former Chairman of the Department of Accounting, University of Dhaka, as the Chief Guest. Professor Amena Begum, Principal of ICT, attended as the Special Guest. The programme was presided over by Muhammad Mamun Ur Rashid, FCGA, President of CGA Bangladesh.
In his keynote address, Professor Dr. Harunur Rashid highlighted the indispensable role of competent and ethical professional accountants in promoting good governance, financial transparency, and sustainable economic development. He emphasized the importance of internationally recognized professional education and continuous skills development. He also expressed hope that the Government would consider establishing a separate BCS Accounting Cadre to strengthen public financial management and called upon members of all professional accounting bodies—including CA, CMA, and CGA—to work together for the nation’s development.
Speaking as the Special Guest, Professor Amena Begum commended the educational and professional development initiatives of CGA Bangladesh and encouraged professionals to work collectively for the country’s economic progress and national development.
In his presidential address, Muhammad Mamun Ur Rashid, FCGA, noted that the accounting profession is rapidly evolving in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital technologies, and data-driven decision-making. He stressed that strengthening professional competence, integrity, ethical standards, and technological capabilities is essential to meeting future challenges. He also paid tribute to the Institute’s Founding President, Late Dr. Saleh Ahmed Bhuiyan, FCMA, FCS, remembering his visionary leadership and outstanding contribution to the growth of the Institute.
Among others, Zahirul Islam, FCGA; Sheikh Monowar Hossain, FCGA; Harun Or Rashid, FCMA, FCS; Omar Faruk Ripon, FCA; Md. Nuruzzaman Mia, FCGA; and Solaiman, ACGA also addressed the gathering. The programme was skillfully moderated by Pallab Kumar Mahalanabish, FCGA.
The evening concluded with a gala dinner, networking, and cultural performances, making CGA Night 2026 a memorable celebration of professional unity, excellence, and fellowship.(PRESS RELEASE)
