152 MPs recommend Cabinet Secretary amend the Tobacco Control Law

152 Members of Parliament (MPs) have recommended to Cabinet Secretary Mr. Khandker Anwarul Islam to take initiatives to speed up the draft proposal of the existing Tobacco Control law for preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and public health protection. On Wednesday, 'Bangladesh Parliamentary Forum for Health and Wellbeing and its secretarial organization Shastho Shurokkha Foundation presented the recommendations of parliamentarians to amend the Tobacco Control law at the Cabinet Secretary's office. Demand for speedy passage of revised Draft Tobacco Control Act to ban display and sale of tobacco products on passenger ships

Smoking is now permitted on many cruise ships. Apart from this, the display and sale of tobacco products continue on the boats. As there is no direct obstacle in this regard in the law, the concerned parties are not able to take necessary measures. GIZ Bangladesh’s training on SDG localisation tools and methods in Khulna for KCC officials
