The consumption of ultra-processed foods and the associated risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are increasing at an alarming rate in Bangladesh. Introducing Front-of-Package Labelling (FOPL), simple warning labels on the front of food packages, can significantly curb the rise of NCDs by improving consumer awareness and supporting informed dietary choices. Through FOPL, consumers can identify at a glance whether a packaged food contains excessive amounts of salt, sugar, or saturated fat, enabling them to choose healthier options. Guardian posts 34.3% growth in H1 2026 claim settlements

Guardian Life Insurance Limited has continued its strong claims settlement momentum, settling insurance claims worth Tk 334.09 crore during the first half (January–June) of 2026. The amount is 34.3 percent higher than the Tk 248.81 crore settled during the corresponding period last year, extending the company's upward trajectory in claim settlement. During the six-month period, Guardian disbursed a total of 131,593 claims across life, health, policy maturities and other claims. Of the total amount settled, Tk 175.24 crore was paid against 23,740 death claims, while Tk 140.21 crore was disbursed for 104,259 health insurance claims.
