The myGov e-ticketing service of Aspire to Innovate (a2i) has been launched at the historic Mainamati Museum and Shalban Vihara in Cumilla, both under the Department of Archaeology, to make visitor services easier, more transparent and seamless.
The service was officially opened to visitors on Friday through a formal inauguration. From now on, visitors will be able to purchase advance tickets online by making payments through the website: eticketing.mygov.bd/mainamati-museum.
Director General (Additional Secretary) of the Department of Archaeology Sabina Alam, attended the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest. Md. Rashidul Mannaf Kabir, Joint Project Director (Joint Secretary) of a2i; myGov Team Lead (Deputy Secretary) Fazlul Zahed Pavel; Regional Director Dr. Mst Naheed Sultana; Custodian Md. Shahin Alam; and other senior officials concerned were also present.
At the event, Sabina Alam purchased a ticket online using her mobile phone and formally inaugurated the myGov e-ticketing service by scanning the QR code and entering the site.
Speaking as the chief guest, she said, “Following the launch of e-ticketing services at Lalbagh Fort, the Sixty Dome Mosque Archaeological Site and Bagerhat Museum, the National Botanical Garden, Balda Garden and Rose Garden, the service has now been introduced at Mainamati Museum and Shalban Vihara. As a result, visitors will no longer need to stand in queues to buy tickets. They will be able to collect tickets online from home and visit archaeological sites with greater ease. At the same time, as the service process becomes digital, paper use will decrease, revenue collection management will become more transparent, and related data can be accessed anytime from anywhere.”
Md. Rashidul Mannaf Kabir said, “Since the launch of the myGov e-ticketing service on 30 June 2025, a total of 603,000 visitors have visited five sites over the past 11 months. Through this service, the government has collected nearly Tk 18,697,830 in revenue. Mainamati Museum and Shalban Bihar are important parts of Cumilla’s history, heritage and tourism. With the launch of the e-ticketing service, both local and foreign visitors will be able to access services through a simpler, faster and more transparent process. Work is underway to gradually bring 30 more tourism and historical sites under the Department of Archaeology onto this platform.”
Fazlul Zahid Pavel said, “The myGov team is working to expand digital services to ensure modern and transparent public service delivery. By December this year, there are plans to launch this service at Mahasthangarh Archaeological Museum, Shashi Lodge Museum, Paharpur Archaeological Museum, Tajhat Zamindar Palace, Shilaidaha Rabindra Kuthibari, Panam Nagar and Dulahazara Safari Park.”
