21 Anti-Tobacco organizations have expressed their appreciation of the latest initiative by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) to strengthen the country's Tobacco Control (TC) law through an amendment. The amendment initiative has come with a view to addressing a number of high-priority policy commitments that include implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring compliance with the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) by the World Health Organization (WHO), and building a tobacco-free Bangladesh as envisioned by the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. On August 5 the second National Debate Federation Bangladesh (NDF BD) Core 2.0 debate competition was held at Raihan School and College, Azimpur, Dhaka. A total of 30 selected debaters from all over Bangladesh were divided into 10 teams and participated in the competition. BASIS leaders visited Tungipara and paid tribute on behalf of the members of BASIS at the mausoleum of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Organized by The Advisory Standing Committee, the visit took place on the 5th of August and was attended by members of EC, the Advisory Standing Committee and the Secretariat.
