‘Grihobondi’ is a drama that explores a long-standing social reality. It tells the story of Sharif’s journey toward becoming Sharifa, addressing one of the most sensitive and widely discussed issues in society.
The drama ‘Grihobondi’, which portrays Sharif’s journey toward becoming Sharifa, will be released next Thursday at 12:00 PM on the official YouTube channel of Shwapno Kanon Multimedia.
The story revolves around a boy who exhibits feminine behavior from an early age and eventually wishes to become a girl. People with such identities are often socially associated with the hijra community in Bangladesh. The drama explores how this desire for change affects his family, including his sisters and parents, and how it influences their social standing. Will society accept him, or will it isolate him? These emotional and social conflicts form the heart of ‘Grihobondi’.
The story, screenplay, and direction of the drama are by Mahfuz Islam, while Ismail Hossain serves as the producer. The production is presented by Shwapno Kanon Multimedia Production. Joy Akash handled cinematography.
The drama features performances by KS Robin, Mahbub Al Rashid Khan, Urmi Ahmed, Kaka Masud, Akleema Liza, Md. Toffazzal Hossain, Maria Khan, Ankhi Akter, Moghule Azam, Mohon Sarkar, Md. Sotez Chowdhury, and many others.
Speaking about the drama, director Mahfuz Islam said, “The core story of ‘Grihobondi’ is about Sharif’s journey toward becoming Sharifa. This is a story rooted in our own society. When a family faces such a situation, its dignity, love, and social standing can become confined within the walls of their home. That is what we have tried to portray. We hope viewers will learn important social lessons from this drama.”
Actor KS Robin said, “I have never worked on such a bold story before. This story will open our eyes to how we judge people based on their identity.”
Producer Ismail Hossain said, “We want viewers to watch this drama and reflect on its message. We want them to understand the pain experienced by a family in such circumstances. ‘Grihobondi’ will make everyone think.”
The drama will be available on the official YouTube channel and Facebook page of Shwapno Kanon Multimedia.
