Filmmaker Walid Ahmed is set to direct a new film titled ‘Dhaka 1205’, centered on the realities of urban life, dreams, struggles, love, and separation. The film features Ashna Habib Bhabna and Rakib Hossain as the lead pair.
Produced under the banner of SHADAMATA Entertainment, the film has been shot in various locations across Uttara, Old Dhaka, and Nawabganj in the capital. Dhaka 1205 aims to portray the unseen realities and inner life of Dhaka through cinematic storytelling.
The cast also includes Aymon Shimla, Mohaimin Islam Golpo, Dr. Afroza Momen, Subaita, Romel, Senjuti, Afif Khan, Rupom, and Zahidul Islam, among others.
The film will feature several songs, including rap, romantic, and experimental tracks. The lyrics have been written by Walid Ahmed and Rezaur Rahman Rizvi, while the background score is being composed by Rubel Flyingkites.
Speaking about the film, director Walid Ahmed said that audiences will enjoy the playful chemistry and emotional dynamics between Bhabna and Rakib throughout the movie. He added, “We have tried to present the innermost stories of Dhaka through the language of cinema. Combining the lives, emotions, relationships, and unseen realities of this city, ‘Dhaka 1205’ will offer viewers a unique cinematic experience.”
The filmmaker further remarked that Bhabna is an extremely dedicated performer who continued shooting even under intense heat. He also noted that Rakib has the ability to adapt himself quickly to any character.
It is worth mentioning that several of Walid Ahmed’s previous films have received acclaim internationally. His achievements include honors such as the Raj Kapoor Award and recognition at the Global Independent Film Festival. His most recently released film was ‘Megher Kopat’ in 2023. In addition, his film ‘Jiboner Khela’, starring Sajal and Cindy, is currently awaiting release.
Meanwhile, after returning from the 48th Moscow International Film Festival, Bhabna shared a social media post simply captioned “Dhaka 1205.” Along with the post, she shared a photograph with director Walid Ahmed and co-star Rakib Hossain, sparking curiosity and excitement among her fans regarding the new film.
