Veteran Freedom Fighter and ‘Bir Protik’ Mahbub Ahmed Shahid Laid to Rest with State Honors
The brave freedom fighter and recipient of the 'Bir Protik' title, Mahbub Ahmed Shahid, has passed away. He breathed his last at 4:30 PM on Friday, May 2, while undergoing treatment in the ICU of Kurmitola General Hospital (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'un). He was 71 years old at the time of his death, leaving behind a wife, a son, and a daughter.
During the 1971 Liberation War, Mahbub was a courageous fighter from Sector 2 under the 'Crack Platoon' in Dhaka. He served as the second-in-command of the 'Maulana Shahid Group' and led multiple high-risk guerrilla operations in Dhaka.
