Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan—one of the most revered musical maestros of the subcontinent. Though primarily known for his mastery in Qawwali, Rahat stands out for his versatility. Whether mesmerizing audiences for hours with soulful Qawwalis or rendering melody-rich songs in Bollywood, his voice transcends boundaries. While older generations lose themselves in his traditional renditions, the youth connect deeply with his romantic film songs. In Bangladesh, too, he has millions of admirers.

Now, as a special treat for those fans, this legendary artist has lent his voice to a Bengali song for the very first time.

The song is titled “Tumi Amar Prem Piyasha”, a romantic duet performed by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Rubayat Jahan, a British singer of Bangladeshi origin. The lyrics have been penned by National Film Award-winning lyricist Kabir Bakul, with music composition and arrangement by Raja Kaasheff.

The recording took place recently at Playback Creative Studio in Dubai, where both Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Rubayat Jahan recorded their parts. The news was confirmed by composer and music director Raja Kaasheff.

The song is being released by one of Bangladesh’s leading audio production labels, Dhruba Music Station (DMS).

Rubayat Jahan expressed her excitement about the collaboration, saying over a phone interview, “When I met Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in London, he shared his deep affection for Bengali music and expressed a desire to sing in Bengali. Raja Kaasheff then proposed this project to him, and he readily agreed. He sang with genuine warmth and emotion. Throughout the recording, he repeatedly said how much he loved the lyrics, melody, and arrangement. For me, it felt like touching the moon. This is one of the greatest milestones in my career, and I’ve poured my heart into the song. I hope listeners will love it.”

Raja Kaasheff, the producer, composer, and music director of the track, also confirmed that the music video will soon be filmed in various locations around London, after which the much-anticipated release will take place.
