Public Lecture Series held at UIU

School of Business and Economics of United International University (UIU) organized a series program titled “Judiciary in Bangladesh: An Overview” as a part of Bangladesh Corpus: Public Lecture Series-2024 recently at UIU Campus, United City, Madani Avenue, Dhaka – 1212.

Mr. Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury, Justice (Retd.) was present as the Keynote Speaker and Mr. Mirza Hussain Haider, Former Justice of the Appellate Division, Bangladesh Supreme Court was present as the Guest of Honor in the program. While Mr. Moinuddin Hasan Rashid, Chairman & Managing Director, United Group and Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia, Vice Chancellor of UIU were present in the program. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Dr. Khandoker Mahmudur Rahman, School of Business and Economics, UIU.

Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury’s insightful lecture delved into the crucial aspects of the judiciary’s role in Bangladesh, emphasizing the significance of judicial review in maintaining the rule of law. He detailed how judicial independence is protected, ensuring fair and impartial decision-making which bolsters public confidence in the legal system.

Highlighting the judiciary’s achievements in building trust and providing equitable justice, Justice Chowdhury also candidly discussed the ongoing challenges and the gap between public expectations and judicial outcomes. His talk sparked a vibrant discussion on the future of judicial processes in Bangladesh, showcasing UIU’s dedication to nurturing an informed academic community.

Heads of different departments, faculty members, officials, students and other distinguished guests were present in the program.
