Guardian reports disciplined cost management, higher claim settlements

Guardian Life Insurance Limited has continued to translate operational efficiency into greater customer value by maintaining disciplined management expenses alongside robust growth in claim settlements.

According to data submitted to the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA), Guardian recorded the highest savings against the regulator’s allowable management expense among all insurance companies during the first quarter of 2026.

Against an approved management expense limit of Tk 63.67 crore, the company incurred management expenses of Tk 50.01 crore, resulting in optimization of Tk 13.66 crore.

Guardian has consistently maintained prudent expense management. In 2025, the company’s allowable management expense stood at Tk 226.36 crore, while actual expenditure was Tk 192.31 crore, optimization Tk 34.05 crore.

At the same time, Guardian continued to deliver on its commitment to policyholders, settling 56,478 claims worth Tk 150.84 crore during the first quarter of 2026, compared with 46,134 claims worth Tk 129 crore in the same period last year. This represents a 16.93 percent year-on-year increase in claim settlements amount.

The company’s latest financial performance reflects a disciplined approach to cost management alongside its continued focus on timely claim settlement and customer service.

By maintaining management expenses well within the regulatory ceiling, Guardian continues to reinforce its prudent financial management, while strong growth in claim settlements reflects its commitment to delivering greater value and timely support to policyholders.

While maintaining its cost-saving trend, Guardian also expanded its customer base. As of March 2025, Guardian Life Insurance Limited provided insurance coverage to 1.26 crore individual policyholders. By 2026, this number had increased to 1.30 crore.
