A national dialogue titled “Present and Future of Bangladesh’s Education System” was held yesterday at Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of National Press Club of Dhaka with the aim of reforming Bangladesh’s education system, education policy and education curriculum. Bangladesh Chatrakallyan Trust organized this national dialogue. Member of the advisory board of Bangladesh Chhatra Kalyan Trust and former Vice-Chancellor of Patuakhali Science and Technology University Professor Dr. Abdul Latif Masum presided over the national dialogue. Barrister Mahabub Uddin Khokon, President of Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association and Vice Chairman of Bangladesh Nationalist Party ( BNP), was present as the chief discussant in this dialogue.
In the dialogue, the speakers stressed that it is important to immediately form an education reform commission to reform the education system of Bangladesh. Executive Director and Principal of Bangladesh Chatrakalyan Trust Nure Alam Talukdar said that the current interim government has formed 6 commissions after coming to power. But it is a matter of great sadness and regret that the Education Reform Commission has not been formed till date. However, we all say that education is the backbone of the nation, if so, then first of all, reforming of the education system is very important if the nation is to stand for long. Therefore, it is important to form an education reform commission comprising all stakeholders without delay.
Barrister Mahabub Uddin Khokon, the chief discussant of the event said that the fascist and autocratic Awami League government has destroyed the infrastructure of all the country’s institutions, including the education and judicial system, in the last sixteen years. On August 5th, with the united efforts of all under the leadership of the student society, we were able to get rid the country of fascism by ousting the dictatorial Awami League. So now it’s time to decorate our beloved country according to our choice. Since the government has constituted 6 reform commissions, it is necessary to form an education reform commission without delay. Mahabub Uddin Khokon said, as far as I know, Bangladesh Chatrakallyan Trust has been working on improving the quality of education and education system of the country for the last 24 years, therefore, the representative of Bangladesh Chhatra Kalyan Trust should also be included in this commission.
The Executive Director of Bangladesh Chatrakallyan Trust briefly highlighted the activities of the Trust in the last 24 years and said that the recommendations of today’s education dialogue would be sent to the Education Adviser and the Honorable Chief Adviser Dr. Mohammad Yunus for adopting while reforming Edcucation Commission. .
