BRAC Bank has been honoured with the SDG Brand Champion 2026 Award in the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (SDG 10) category for its flagship CSR initiative, Aporajeyo Ami, in recognition of its efforts to reduce inequalities and advance disability inclusion in Bangladesh.

The initiative was recognised for advancing disability inclusion, expanding healthcare access, promoting equal opportunities, and creating pathways to dignified employment for persons with disabilities.

Launched in 2024, Aporajeyo Ami is Bangladesh’s first bank-led, multi-pillar disability inclusion initiative. Through strategic partnerships with specialised healthcare and development partners, the programme has provided vision care to more than 63,000 people, facilitated formal employment for 50 persons with disabilities, trained 78 hearing-impaired women in vocational skills, and expanded access to essential healthcare services, including cataract surgeries, assistive devices, and kidney dialysis support across Bangladesh.

Commenting on the achievement, Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, Managing Director & CEO of BRAC Bank, said: “This recognition reaffirms our belief that meaningful banking goes beyond financial services—it is about creating opportunities, removing barriers, and empowering people to realise their full potential. Through Aporajeyo Ami, we are committed to building a more inclusive Bangladesh where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”

The award reflects BRAC Bank’s unwavering commitment to sustainable development and inclusive growth, reinforcing its purpose of creating lasting social impact alongside economic progress.
