
Today at 10:30 AM, Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Ms. Afroza Khanam, MP, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP, and State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mr. Mir Shah Alam, MP, visited Bogura Airport on-site by a special helicopter of Bangladesh Air Force.
During the visit, Minister Ms. Afroza Khanam, MP, stated that they had come to Bogura following the directives of Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. She said that Bogura would be transformed into one of the country’s leading aviation hubs by utilizing the immense potential of the northern region. She further remarked that the people of Bogura are truly fortunate, as the ministry’s large-scale aviation development initiative is beginning from Bogura.
State Minister Mr. Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP, said that plans have been undertaken to construct an international-standard airport in Bogura along with a 10,500-foot runway. He added that cargo facilities would also be established, which would play a vital role in supporting agricultural products, industrial goods, and export trade from the northern region.
With the goal of opening a new horizon in communication, trade, and aviation in the northern region, the government has taken initiatives to expand Bogura Airport by establishing a Pilot Training Academy and cargo facilities. Today’s visit was conducted as part of the implementation process of this initiative.
Among others present during the visit were Chief of Air Staff of the Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, BBP, OSP, GUP, nswc, psc; Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Fahmida Akhtar, ndc; and senior officials of the ministry and the concerned airport authorities.
