HBL Celebrates 50 Years in Bangladesh

HBL celebrated 50 years of its operations in Bangladesh, marking decades of partnership with the country and its businesses. Since commencing operations in Bangladesh in 1976, HBL has grown alongside its customers, supporting trade, investment and financial flows and connecting businesses across markets.

To mark the occasion, HBL has hosted celebrations in Dhaka attended by clients, regulators, business leaders and senior executives of the Bank, including Sultan Ali Allana, Chairman – HBL, and Muhammad Nassir Salim, President & CEO – HBL.

Over five decades, HBL has built a strong presence in Bangladesh, supporting businesses and financial institutions as they participate in domestic and international markets. As Bangladesh’s economy continues to deepen its global trade and investment linkages, HBL is well positioned to leverage its international footprint and expertise to support the evolving needs of its clients.

HBL’s international network provides a distinctive proposition for businesses in Bangladesh. HBL is one of the three banks from South Asia and MENA region to offer end-to-end RMB intermediation in China. HBL Beijing is HBL’s second branch and its managing branch in China. Today, both branches in Beijing and Urumqi are equipped with foreign exchange and RMB licenses to better facilitate customers’ requirements in multiple currencies.

HBL’s presence in China allows the bank to interact with State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and leading financial institutions involved in CPEC and across Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) corridors. Moreover, HBL’s customers in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Singapore, Sri Lanka, UAE, Kenya, and other countries can experience the benefits of HBL’s best in class products and services in their countries and in China.
