Bangladesh University Hosts Seminar on Artificial Intelligence in Academic Research

A seminar titled “Artificial Intelligence in Academic Research: Emerging Trends, Research Methodology, and Practical Applications” was held today at the seminar hall of Bangladesh University (BU).

The event, aimed at exploring the transformative role of AI in modern education, was organized by the university’s Department of Business Administration.

​Prof. Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Brig. Gen. Md. Mahbubul Haque (Retd.), Registrar of BU, and Prof. Dr. Md. Tajul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, were present as Special Guests. The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Gazi Md. Abu Isa Nur, Head of the Department of Business Administration.
​Dr. Mansura Nusrat, Assistant Professor of the Department of Management at St. Bonaventure University’s School of Business, USA, presented the keynote address.

​In her presentation, Dr. Nusrat highlighted the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in academic research, focusing on the use of modern AI tools in research design and data analysis. While acknowledging that AI makes research more dynamic, data-driven, and effective, she strongly emphasized the need for its ethical and responsible use.

​Dr. Nusrat further noted that the widespread expansion of AI-generated content and automated response technologies necessitates a review and restructuring of traditional education and evaluation methods. “While AI has opened new doors of possibilities in education and research, it has also brought forward critical challenges such as misuse, ethical concerns, data reliability, and the protection of academic integrity,” she added.

​Speaking as the Chief Guest, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam stated that AI is having a profound and far-reaching impact at every level of education. “It is no longer an abstract or futuristic concept; rather, it is rapidly transforming our daily lives, education, research, and academic activities,” he said.

​The Vice-Chancellor also mentioned that Bangladesh University has always prioritized the creation of new knowledge, research, and innovation. Keeping this vision in mind, the university has already established a modern Artificial Intelligence (AI) Center, through which various departments are successfully conducting AI-based research and innovative projects.
​is the need of the hour and that such seminars will play a significant role in building the capacity of both teachers and students.

​In his concluding remarks, the Chair of the session, Prof. Dr. Gazi Md. Abu Isa Nur, noted that research across all faculties, including business administration, is now touched by technology. He stated that the initiative was taken to familiarize students with these new trends, before thanking the keynote speaker and the audience and declaring the seminar closed.

​The event witnessed a large turnout, with faculty members, officials, researchers, and students from various departments in attendance.
