Filmmaker Raisul Islam Anik has withdrawn his previous statements and issued an unconditional apology. In a press note signed by him on 11 June 2026, he acknowledged that certain remarks he had made regarding the films Charulata and Dhaka 1205, both produced by Shadamata Entertainment, were incorrect and had caused damage to the production company’s business reputation.
In his written statement, Anik said that his comments made on 19 May 2026 in response to questions from journalists regarding the two films were unintended, inaccurate, and inappropriate. He expressed his sincere and unconditional apology to Shadamata Entertainment and all concerned parties for any harm caused by those remarks.
Raisul Islam Anik further stated that he had previously claimed that the shooting of Charulata had been completed. However, he clarified that the film’s shooting has not yet been fully completed. He also acknowledged that his earlier claim regarding the completion of the film’s editing and dubbing was incorrect.
Additionally, he had claimed that the title of Charulata had been changed to Dhaka 1205. He clarified that the two are entirely separate and distinct films. He explained that both films are independently registered with the Film Directors’ Association and the Film Producers’ Association, a fact that he was unaware of at the time. Following discussions and an amicable settlement between the parties, he said the matter had since been clarified.
Anik also withdrew his earlier claim that Shadamata Entertainment had paid him only BDT 1.1 million. Instead, he stated that the production company had paid him the full amount required under the contractual agreement for the completion of the film.
Referring to the above matters, Raisul Islam Anik said that the long-standing reputation of Shadamata Entertainment, a respected film production company, had been seriously harmed due to his unfortunate actions and inaccurate statements made to the media. He further admitted that despite receiving more funds than stipulated under the agreement, he failed to deliver the completed film and was responsible for financial irregularities that caused both financial losses and reputational damage to the production company.
For these reasons, he offered an unconditional apology to Shadamata Entertainment and its proprietor, Walid Ahmed, for all of his mistakes and actions.
It may be noted that Raisul Islam Anik is the director of the films ‘Etichitra’, ‘Bisshash Koren Bhai’, and ‘Guptadhoner Khoje’.
