The “Rebel Fiction Writer Abdur Rouf Choudhury Literary Award 2026,” instituted in memory of rebel fiction writer Abdur Rouf Choudhury, will be conferred upon renowned fiction writer Rafiqur Rashid and fiction writer-essayist Akimun Rahman.
The award ceremony will be held on 4 April 2026 at 3PM at the Chitrasala Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, where the medals will be formally presented to the recipients. The event will be graced by Abul Kasem Fazlul Haq, President of Bangla Academy, as the Chief Guest. The inauguration will be conducted by poet Rezauddin Stalin, Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Noted fiction writer Moni Haider will attend as Special Guest. Distinguished writers, researchers, cultural personalities, and literature enthusiasts from across the country are also expected to participate. The awardees will receive a commemorative crest, an honorary shawl, and a cash prize.
The award recognizes their overall contribution to Bangla literature, creative excellence, and socially conscious literary practice. Their works reflect contemporary social realities, historical awareness, and profound human values. In previous years, several distinguished writers, researchers, and artists of the country have been honored with this award.
