In a major step toward modernizing municipal governance, the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) has partnered with B-Trac Solutions and Mileage to simplify and digitalize the city’s commercial holding tax collection system. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Monday, marking a significant move toward making tax payment easier, transparent, and more citizen-friendly.
Under this agreement, CCC’s commercial holding tax collection will be fully transitioned to a cloud-based software system, equipped with real-time reporting, data analytics, and tracking capabilities. The new platform will ensure transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency in tax management. Taxpayers will be able to conveniently pay their dues through online banking, mobile financial services, ATMs, or cash counters, making the process faster and more accessible.
Speaking as the Chief Guest at the signing ceremony, Dr. Shahadat Hossain, Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation, said,
“Technology-based administration is the need of the hour. Our goal is to transform the commercial holding tax collection system into a fully digital platform so that institutions can pay their taxes easily. This initiative will not only boost revenue but also reduce corruption and public harassment.”
He further added that CCC’s administrative operations are gradually moving toward full automation, ensuring greater transparency and accountability. Once implemented, the system will enable citizens to access real-time updates on tax payments and related services.
The event was attended by Md. Ashraful Amin, Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Secretary of CCC; Sarwar Kamal, Chief Revenue Officer; Humayun Kabir Chowdhury, Chief Accounting Officer; and Md. Sabbir Rahman Sunny, Revenue Officer.
Representing B-Trac Solutions, Mohammed Tanvir Siddique, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Safayet Abdullah, Head of Project, were present. From Mileage, attendees included Engineer Tahsin-ul-Islam, Chief Executive Officer; Riasat Islam Fardin, Director; Abrar Rafid Chowdhury, Managing Director; and Akhiyar Noor, Chief Information Officer.
The initiative reflects CCC’s commitment to building a smart, transparent, and citizen-centric digital administration, in line with the government’s vision of a Digital Bangladesh.
