Banglalink, the country’s leading innovative digital operator, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with FloSolar Solutions Limited to establish a 100 MW solar power plant that will power Banglalink’s telecom network nationwide using clean and renewable energy. The initiative reinforces Banglalink’s commitment to environmental sustainability, renewable energy adoption, and climate resilience.

Under the agreement, FloSolar and its partners will develop, finance, and operate the solar power plant, while Banglalink will purchase the generated energy through a long-term Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA).

Through this partnership, Banglalink aims to power over 15,000 BTS sites, data centers, and Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV) with solar energy, converting approximately 60 percent of its total energy consumption to renewable sources. The project is also expected to benefit local communities while reducing reliance on fossil-fuel-based energy.

Once operational, the solar plant will help reduce carbon emissions by around 76,000 tons annually, marking a major shift in the telecom sector’s approach to sustainable energy and lowering Banglalink’s overall carbon footprint.

Huseyin Turker, Chief Technology and Information Officer, Banglalink, said, “At Banglalink, we are committed to building a more sustainable future by using renewable energy. This solar power project with FloSolar will create a stronger renewable energy ecosystem in Bangladesh and set a benchmark for future large-scale renewable deployments. With the right mix of technology, innovation, and vision, we can accelerate the transition to a low-carbon and energy-secure future.”

Mustafa Azim Kasem Khan, Founder and Managing Director, FloSolar Solutions Limited, stated, “This partnership with Banglalink underscores FloSolar’s dedication to supporting leading telecom operators in their shift toward clean, reliable, and sustainable energy. Through innovative project structures and long-term corporate power purchase agreements, we aim to deliver scalable solar solutions that align with corporate social responsibility while advancing Bangladesh’s national climate goals.”
