
United Commercial Bank PLC Limited’s (UCB) agricultural support scheme ‘Bhoroshar Notun Janala’ conducted its 56th skill-development training session in Brahmanbaria. 225 agricultural entrepreneurs from 9 upazilas of the district received this training on November 27, 2024, in the district’s Advocate Syed Sirajul Islam Municipal Community Center, Tanker Par (Loknath Dighi Par).
In accordance with the directives of the Bangladesh Bank, UCB has been organizing such training in different districts of the country for promising agricultural entrepreneurs as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The day-long event welcomed Rezaul Karim Siddique, Presenter of BTV’s agriculture-based show ‘Mati O Manush’ and an agricultural analyst, as event chair. Md. Ridwanul Haque, SEVP, Head of Branch Distribution Channel Unit, UCB, attended the program as a Special Guest. Sushant Saha, Deputy Director, Directorate of Agriculture Extension, Brahmanbaria; Md. Habibul Islam, District Livestock Officer, Brahmanbaria; and Mohammad Zakir Hossain, District Fisheries Officer, Brahmanbaria were present as respected guests.
Event Chair, Rezaul Karim Siddique, said, “Through Bhoroshar Notun Janala, UCB is working to upskill entrepreneurs working in the agriculture, livestock, and fisheries sectors. This initiative aims to support agri-entrepreneurs across the country in becoming self-dependent through extensive knowledge of business and modern techniques.”
UCB has already implemented several initiatives for farmers under its ‘Bhoroshar Notun Janala’ project. These include plantation of different varieties of trees, training for agri-entrepreneurs, distribution of agro-related smart devices such as the AI-driven ‘Aro Maas (MoreFish)’ device, promotion of maize farming as an alternative crop to tobacco, installation of lightning arresters to protect against lightning and distribution of food production machinery in different areas (free of cost) of the country.
