12 Illegal Lead Battery Factories Shut Down in Dhaka’s Konapara and Aminbazar

In a resolute move to combat air pollution, the Department of Environment (DoE) has shut down 12 illegal lead battery factories operating in Konapara, Jatrabari, and Aminbazar, Savar. These factories were engaged in unauthorized battery dismantling and smelting, posing severe health and environmental hazards. A joint operation conducted by the DoE and Jatrabari police on the early hours of March 28 resulted in the closure of six factories in Konapara, including the sealing of two facilities.
