Media Fest 2025 held at UIU

The Department of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) of United International University (UIU) organized a day-long contest for inter-college and university students in different segments including Media Quiz, Content Projection, Documentary Screening, Star Talkand Photography Exhibition titled “UIU Media Fest 2025” at the UIU Campus yesterday. The fest is an exemplary platform that showcases the forefront of creativity and innovation in the field of media and communication.

Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia, Vice-Chancellor, UIU was present as the Chief Guest and Prof. Dr. Hamidul Huq, Dean of School of Humanities and Social Sciences, UIU, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Omar Farooq, Head Dept. of Economics, UIUand Dr. Md. Zulfiqur Rahman, Registrar of UIU were present as the Special Guests in the program. Dr. Sheikh Shafiul Islam, Head, Dept. of MSJ, UIU presided over the ceremony.

Dr. Mario Hirstein, Assistant Professor, Ms. Kazi Kamrun Nahar Tania, Lecturer, Ms. Sumia Zahid, Lecturer, Ms. Umme Ammara, Lecturer, of the department led a series of events i.e. media quiz, photo and content competition and star talk throughout the fest.

Famous actress Ms. Mehazabien Chowdhury, Content Creator Ms. Kaarina Kaiser, Head of News at News24 Mr. Shariful Islam Khan, Film director Mr. Maksud Hossain & Mr. Shankha Dasgupta and Head of Influencing, Communication, Advocacy & Media, Oxfam BangladeshMr. Md. Shariful Islamenlightened the fest through their speeches, motivation and encouragement to the students and participants.

The MSJ students of different batches, along with members of the UIU Cultural Club, UIU Photography Club, and UIU Film and Theatre Club, performed in various shows and made the fest a success.

The faculty members, students, officials, academicians, government high officials, media experts, journalists and other distinguished guests were present in the program.
