Leading global apparel manufacturer Hop Lun has officially launched its new initiative, SHECAN, across multiple factories in Bangladesh. The initiative brings together health, development, and family support programs under one inclusive banner, designed to benefit over 30,000 employees across the company’s facilities in the country.
Focus on Health, Safety, and Employee Growth
With approximately 80 percent of Hop Lun’s workforce in Bangladesh being women, the SHECAN initiative aims to serve as a comprehensive support system for all employees, regardless of gender. The program focuses on universal workplace needs such as health, safety, and personal growth, creating a balanced and empowering environment for the workforce.
Integrated Health and Development Programs
At the core of SHECAN, Hop Lun has introduced a series of services including free medical camps and factory-based training sessions. The company has already begun implementing a range of programs such as improved childcare centers with learning corners and caregiver resources, enhanced clinic facilities, distribution of medical and essential supplies for women, and initiatives to strengthen universal health literacy among employees.
Worker Scholarship and Skill Development Opportunities
Under the SHECAN initiative, Hop Lun is launching a Worker Scholarship Pathway, providing educational opportunities for its employees. The company is also expanding life skill training programs in collaboration with external partners, ensuring that workers have access to continued learning and development beyond the production floor.
Leadership Perspective
Speaking about the initiative, Nishantha Mohottige, Bangladesh Country Head of Hop Lun, stated that the program reflects the company’s deep commitment to employee well-being and empowerment.
“With this initiative, we aim to give our employees a workplace where they feel at home and safe. As always, we are committed to building an environment where every employee, regardless of role or gender, can work with health, prosperity, and confidence,” he said.
The launch of SHECAN marks another milestone in Hop Lun’s journey toward creating a more inclusive, equitable, and health-focused workplace culture in Bangladesh’s apparel sector.
