In a move to strengthen financial security for farmers and their families, one of Bangladesh’s leading insurance service providers, Guardian Life Insurance Limited, has entered into a strategic partnership with agri-tech platform WeGro Global.

Under this collaboration, Guardian Life will offer Credit Shield Insurance coverage to farmers financed by WeGro. This coverage aims to protect the financial future of farming families by ensuring that outstanding loan obligations are fulfilled in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

The agreement was recently signed at Guardian Life’s head office in Dhaka. Sheikh Rakibul Karim, FCA, Additional Managing Director and Acting Chief Executive Officer of Guardian Life, and Faiyaz Safir, Chief Operations Officer of WeGro Global, represented their respective organizations during the signing ceremony. Senior officials from both organizations were also present.

Empowering Farmers with Financial Security

In Bangladesh, a significant portion of the farming community comprises marginal producers who often lack financial protection against livelihood uncertainties. Recognizing this gap, the partnership between Guardian and WeGro seeks to introduce innovative financial solutions that reduce risk and enhance resilience for farmers across the country.

Highlighting the importance of the initiative, Sheikh Rakibul Karim, FCA, said, “This collaboration signifies a groundbreaking step in both the insurance and agriculture industries. The agriculture sector sustains our economy, with farmers at its core. Both Guardian and WeGro share the responsibility of ensuring that our farmers are empowered with financial protection.”

Echoing this vision, Faiyaz Safir, Chief Operations Officer of WeGro Global, stated, “At WeGro, we are committed to transforming the lives of farmers in meaningful ways. Our partnership with Guardian reflects that mission. From now on, our farmers will benefit from Guardian’s trusted financial solutions, ensuring stability and support for their families during critical times.”

The event was attended by senior officials from both organizations, including Abdul Halim, Head of Micro Insurance Digital Channel and ADC, and Md. Tanim Bulbul, AVP, Micro Digital Channel and ADC from Guardian Life. KBD Md. Rabiullah, Head of Operations, and Arif Rahman, Head of Business and Strategy, BDU represented WeGro Global.
