BYD Bangladesh launched the ‘Build Your Dreams: NEV Mechanic Training’ program to empower local mechanics and accelerate the country’s electric vehicle revolution. This pioneering initiative marks a significant step toward building a skilled workforce to support Bangladesh’s rapidly growing sustainable mobility sector.
Bangladesh is gradually entering the electric vehicle (EV) industry and showing strong potential for growth. Like the global trend, the country is moving toward greener, cleaner transportation solutions. Several renowned international brands have already started or are planning to enter Bangladesh’s EV market, making it an emerging and promising market for the future. Despite this progress, there remain challenges such as limited understanding of EV technology among mechanics, a shortage of EV-trained technicians, and reduced customer interest due to service uncertainties.
To address these challenges, BYD Bangladesh initiated the ‘Build Your Dreams: NEV Mechanic Training’ program. The first session took place on December 5, 2025, at the BYD Service Center, with 25 enthusiastic mechanics from various workshops and companies in the Dhaka division. This comprehensive training program will continue across four subsequent batches, with 25 participants in each session for now. The program was launched in collaboration with the local Mechanic Association to select passionate candidates eager to advance their knowledge of EV technology. The sessions are led by Mozammel Haque, Head of After Sales Service at BYD Bangladesh, ensuring expert guidance throughout the training. This is an ongoing project that will be expanded across the whole nation over the next year.
Imtiaz Nawsher, Chief Marketing Officer, BYD Bangladesh, shared his observation, stating, “Bangladesh’s EV market holds tremendous promise, but the real key to success lies in building strong local technical expertise and customer confidence. Through this pioneering training program, BYD is committed to empowering mechanics and transforming current challenges into tangible opportunities for a cleaner, greener future. This is only the first phase; we have a target to systematically expand coverage nationwide throughout the year. Our aim is to forge an expert community of NEV Mechanics in the industry, and we proudly stand as the first brand to commit with such clarity and resolve.”
Reinforcing this commitment to localized technical support, Mozammel Haque, Head of After Sales Service, BYD Bangladesh, added, “Our goal is to equip local technicians with the skills and knowledge they need to service EVs confidently and efficiently. This initiative is not just training! It’s about creating a sustainable ecosystem that supports Bangladesh’s journey toward electric mobility.”
This initiative is designed to build a vast network of highly skilled EV-trained mechanics, establish trust in BYD’s innovative technology, and empower local workshops & service centers to confidently provide expert EV servicing across the country. Looking forward, BYD plans to expand this program nationwide throughout 2026, further reinforcing the country’s sustainable mobility ecosystem. Crucially, BYD stands as the first brand in Bangladesh to take such a clear and committed step toward building local EV service infrastructure.
