
Bangladesh Bank has organised a workshop to disseminate financial literacy activities undertaken by the central bank to the media people.
The daylong workshop titled ‘Central Banking Concept with Financial Literacy’ was aimed at informing the journalists about the significance of financial awareness and its impact on people and society for national development.
More than 150 journalists who are members of Economic Reporters’ Forum took part in the capacity building session held at Hotel Purbani International in Dhaka on December 11, 2024.
Ms. Husne Ara Shikha, Executive Director, Bangladesh Bank, attended the workshop as the chief guest. Md Iqbal Mohasin, Director, Financial Inclusion Department, Bangladesh Bank, Mohammad Refayet Ullah Mirdha, President, and Abul Kashem, General Secretary, Economic Reporters’ Forum, and senior officials of Bangladesh Bank and other banks were present.
Planned and designed by Bangladesh Bank, the workshop was organised in courtesy of BRAC Bank, Bank Asia, The City Bank, Dhaka Bank, Dutch-Bangla Bank and Mutual Trust Bank.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, M Masud Rana FCA, Deputy Managing Director and CFO, BRAC Bank, said: “Financial Inclusion Departmentof Bangladesh Bank has long been conducting various programmes to drive financial literacy in the country. The initiatives such as School Banking, Agent Banking, Tk 10 account have brought lakhs of people under purview of banking system. This workshop for journalists will facilitate widespread awareness about financial literacy through analytical and in-depth news stories. BRAC Bank wishes to continue its partnership with Bangladesh Bank in driving financial awareness in the country.”
