The holy festival of Eid al-Adha, one of the most significant religious occasions for Muslims, is being celebrated across the country today with due religious fervor, enthusiasm, and festivity. The festival carries the message of sacrifice, self-purification, and devotion to Almighty Allah.
Eid congregations were held this morning in the capital as well as in different parts of the country. Millions of devotees offered Eid prayers at the National Eidgah, mosques, and open fields. Following the prayers, worshippers participated in special prayers and munajat seeking peace, prosperity, and well-being for the country, the nation, and the Muslim Ummah worldwide.
Eid-ul-Adha conveys a profound lesson of sacrifice for Muslims. In remembrance of the supreme devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) in obeying the command of Almighty Allah, financially capable Muslims are offering sacrificial animals. In accordance with religious teachings, the meat of the sacrificed animals is being distributed among relatives, neighbors, and underprivileged people.
On the occasion of Eid, the President, the Prime Minister, and leaders of various political, social, and religious organizations extended greetings to the nation. In separate messages, they called upon people to reflect the teachings of Eid in personal, social, and national life.
Enhanced security measures were put in place in Dhaka and other cities across the country to ensure peaceful celebrations. Law enforcement agencies strengthened surveillance at important locations. At the same time, city corporations and local administrations adopted special measures for the quick removal of sacrificial waste.
Meanwhile, the capital city of Dhaka has become comparatively quieter as a large number of people left the city to celebrate Eid with their families and loved ones. Highways, railways, and waterways witnessed heavy pressure from homebound travelers ahead of the festival.
Alongside Bangladesh, expatriate Bangladeshis in different countries around the world are also celebrating the holy Eid-ul-Adha with religious solemnity and festive spirit.
