International School Dhaka (ISD) has observed the 55th Victory Day of Bangladesh with a heartfelt assembly that brought the whole school community together to honor the country’s rich history and the sacrifices of the martyrs. The assembly featured a series of student-led performances that celebrated the spirit of patriotism and unity.
The assembly began with a warm welcome from Dr. Michael Palmer, Primary School Principal. Following the welcome speech, the event, hosted by students from both thePrimaryYears Programme (PYP) and the Middle Years Programme (MYP), continued with the National Anthem. This was followed by a series of captivating performancesshowcasing the talent and enthusiasm of the students across various grade levels. The assembly included anarration of the history of Bangladesh, captivating dance performances on the songs ‘AgamiPonchashe,’ Ekti Bangladesh Tumi JagrotoJonotar’, ‘CholoShobai’, and ‘O PrithibiEbarEshe’. Altogether, bringing a vibrant energy to the program.
The audience also enjoyed a drama presentation of ‘PotakarMullo’, a live musical performance on the song ‘Brave’, followed by a poetry recitation of ‘AbarAshiboPhire’, leaving them inspired and united in the spirit of Victory Day.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Palmer said, “Victory Day is a reminder of the sacrifices that shaped Bangladesh, and it is important that our students grow up understanding what this day truly represents. To see them confidently and respectfully lead today’s assembly is a true indicator of how much they cherish our country’s heritage. The performances today very nicely reflected our students’ creativity, resilience, and pride in their nation, and we couldn’t have been prouder.”
The event emphasized the immense sacrifices made during the Liberation War, and reaffirmed ISD’s commitment to fostering a sense of community and cultural appreciation among learners and staff members.
