
The British Council celebrated the exceptional academic accomplishments of 42 students from 23 English medium schools across Bangladesh at the British Council Scholars’ Award 2025, held on 21 October 2025 at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Dhaka.
The prestigious award recognised students who achieved the highest distinction grades in nine or more subjects in the May/June 2025 Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel examinations (O Level, IGCSE, and International GCSE), conducted by the British Council for UK exam boards. These outstanding young achievers represent the next generation of bright minds shaping Bangladesh’s future through diligence, creativity, and a passion for learning.
Celebrating Academic Excellence
In his welcome address, Stephen Forbes, Country Director, British Council Bangladesh, said, “Today we celebrate the dedication of students, commend their achievements, and appreciate the crucial support of their parents. At the British Council, we are committed to helping young people reach their full potential in both academics and careers. We hope these excellent UK exam board results become a valuable asset in their journey. To those who didn’t reach their goals this time, their efforts matter and will pay off. Wishing all students the very best as they pursue excellence and follow their dreams.”
Event Highlights
The ceremony brought together more than 200 school leaders, educators, parents, and representatives from the British Council’s 200 Partner Schools across the country. Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Secretary, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka, attended as the Distinguished Guest and delivered an inspirational address.
A video montage showcased the British Council’s global education initiatives, featuring success stories of past scholars who have gone on to excel internationally. Maxim Raimann, Exams Director Bangladesh, British Council, presented an overview of the organisation’s efforts to make world-class qualifications accessible to Bangladeshi learners.
The highlight of the event was the award presentation, where 42 top-performing students received crests and certificates in recognition of their outstanding results. Two award-winning students also shared personal reflections on their academic journeys and future aspirations, earning warm applause from the audience. The evening concluded with a vote of thanks by Tahnee Yeasmin, Director, Business Development, British Council Bangladesh.
