The Department of Economics of United International University (UIU) and UIU Junior Economists’ Forum (JEF) jointly organized a day-long contest in different segments, including a spirited quiz competition, inspiring speeches and a thrilling football match with learning, laughter, and lasting memories titled “UIU ECON Fest 2025” at the UIU campus yesterday.
Mr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Managing Director, United Finance PLC was present as the Special Guest in the ceremony. Among others, including Prof. Dr. Akhtar Hossain, Chief Economist, Bangladesh Bank (on leave from UIU), Prof. Dr. M. Akhtaruzzaman, Former Chief Economist, Bangladesh Bank and Prof. Dr. Ali Ashraf, Dept. of Economics, UIU (one of the UIU professors globally recognized in the highly distinguished group of the top 2%) spoke in the program. The program began with a welcome speech by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Omar Farooq, Head, Department of Economics, UIU.
The first session of the Econ Fest is followed by a presentation on the history of the department and inspiring speeches from faculty members, alumni, and distinguished guests. The session concludes with a spirited quiz competition.
The second segment brought lighter moments – pillow passing for the female students and a thrilling football match for the male students, making the day truly memorable.
