Supradip Chakma, Advisor to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs and former Ambassador, visited several Durga Puja mandaps in Rangamati town last night, including the Gorjontoli Akhanda Mandali Upasana Mandir and the Tabalchari Kali Temple. During his visit, he observed the arrangements and security measures in place for the Sharadiya Durga Puja celebrations.
While exchanging greetings with the festival organizers, Advisor Chakma urged everyone to celebrate the occasion in a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. Sharadiya Durga Puja is a symbol of our heritage and communal harmony, he remarked. Let this festival become even more vibrant through the participation of people from all religions and communities.
In response to questions from journalists following his visit, Advisor Chakma emphasized that sustainable peace and development in the region require economic stability and quality education. If the hill communities were more educated and aware, many of these problems would not exist, he said. We need quality education- education that teaches people to discern right from wrong and shields them from manipulation.
He further added, I want quality education to spread among the hill people. Only then will they be able to shape their own future and bring about positive change in society.
Accompanying the Advisor during the visit were Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Md. Habib Ullah, the Advisor’s Private Secretary (Deputy Secretary) Khandaker Mushfiqur Rahman, Superintendent of Police Md. Farhad Hossain, Executive Officer of Rangamati District Council Khandaker Mohammad Rizaul Karim, along with other council officials and local dignitaries.
