A hands-on and innovative learning experience in drone technology took place at the Space Innovation Camp Academy, located in the Bashundhara Residential Area of Dhaka, through the Junior Drone Pilot Workshop. This workshop was organized by Space Innovation Camp, a leading institution in promoting future-focused and innovative education.

Targeting tech-curious children and adolescents, this workshop welcomed students from various schools aged between 4 to 14 years. Held from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the session introduced participants to how drones work — covering the science behind drones, the role of propellers, balance control, sensor mechanisms, and battery-powered flight systems. All concepts were explained in a child-friendly manner, and the students were divided into multiple groups for practical outdoor flying sessions.

All activities were conducted in a designated, secure, fixed-altitude drone flight zone to ensure the highest level of safety for the participants.

Brigadier General (Retd.) M. Mofizur Rahman, CMC, former Commandant of the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), attended as the Chief Guest. In his remarks, he said,“Today’s initiative is truly commendable. Programs like this that plant the seeds of technology in children will help shape a scientific and innovative future generation. Drones are no longer just toys — they are being used in agriculture, healthcare, rescue operations, and even space research. Through workshops like this, children are becoming familiar with real-world technology from an early age, which helps develop their confidence, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.”

He added, “When we see children as young as four or five learning with curiosity about propellers, batteries, sensors, and flight controls, we feel hopeful that some of them will grow into future scientists, aviation experts, or tech entrepreneurs. The true purpose of education is to spark curiosity — and Space Innovation Camp is fulfilling that mission with excellence. I sincerely thank the organizers for taking such a timely and groundbreaking initiative.”

Speaking about the event, Ariful Hasan Opu, President of Space Innovation Camp, said, “We believe that blending technology with hands-on experience is the best way to nurture future innovators. Today’s participants didn’t just learn how to fly drones — they also understood how technology can be applied safely to solve real-world problems.”

The Junior Drone Pilot Workshop set a new benchmark in fostering children’s creativity, technological interest, and problem-solving abilities. Organizers have expressed their commitment to continuing such engaging, hands-on learning programs in the future through Space Innovation Camp.
