Recommendation to Cancel the Safari Park Project in the Reserved Forest of Lathitila, Moulvibazar

The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change has recommended canceling the approval of the safari park project in the reserved forest of Lathitila, Moulvibazar. A letter regarding this was sent to the Planning Commission on 2 October. The "Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park, Moulvibazar (Phase 1)" project was conditionally approved in the ECNEC meeting on 9 November 2023. Following the ECNEC meeting's decision, a four-member committee was formed on 21 August 2024 by the ministry to assess the project's impact on biodiversity and provide recommendations. The Board of Governors of South Asia Foundation (SAF) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday, September 30, 2024. The meeting took place at the Conference room of the Southeast University permanent campus. At the AGM, Mr. Rezaul Karim, the Board Chairman, was re-elected for the next two years term. Following his re-election, other office bearers were restructured for the same term. Under Mr. Karim's leadership, the AGM focused on strategic planning and financial matters, with the Board reviewing and approving the annual report and audit report. The board appointed an Auditor for the next financial year.
